DRP Event #11 Recap

Blah, blah, blah ... Yes it's taking me forever to get this blog updated!! I'm heading to Vegas on Thursday so people have to give me a little bit of slack, right? No??? Alright then, here goes!

First of all, 40 people again was another great showing for what is still apparently summer on the Northern Plains, so that's very nice and raises the question on how many people will actually be showing up this fall??? I guess we cross that bridge when we get there!!

Secondly, not that people want to hear about me, but man do I suck lately!! I have AK run into KQ ... oh that's good! No ... not when a K and Q come out ... left with 1,200 and no 10-outer saves me ... blah, blah, another sob story - on to the good stuff!!

Things seemed to be slow going in eliminating people considering we only started with 5,000 in chips. We still had 33 left at the break! By the 2nd break, we came back to 17 people, still quite a few. Our defending champion went out in 19th when Tallywacker's 99 ran into AA. Later Pat A would survive with KQ vs AA and then bust at the final table with AQ vs AA. Pat A also busted Peanut Butter with AQ vs PB's 77. Thane made a calculated play on a 949 board against Texas putting him to a test for all his chips, but Texas called with 55 and Thane had AJ and didn't improve. This set up Texas to be able to continually make calls to bust short stacks leading up to the final table. KJ catching against 44, then A9 catching against a short stack QQ. These were enough to set up Texas for a nice final table. Going into the final table a number of stacks looked to be in good shape including Ron O, Bjorn, Texas, and Chad R. Nick T would be the first to bust, soon followed by a similarily short stacked Brad D. The next bustout was a surprise as Bjorn opened for 6K at 1/2K blinds and was reraised all-in by Chad R to 37,400. Bjorn contemplated and eventually made the call with TT only to see Chad R show JJ. Bjorn failed to improve and was left with only 4,500 and was soon eliminated in 8th. Cpt Fission would bust in 7th when his QJ failed to improve against Bin2Win's JJ, even with a T & 9 making him open ended on the flop. Cowboy would be Bin2Win's next victim as his K9 was beat by Win's AK. Chad R reraised Ron O when Ron came into the pot with a 3x BB bet. Chad put him to the test for all his chips and Ron called with AQ while Chad tabled 44. An Ace on the flop gave Ron a nice chip lead and left Chad with about 24K in chips. Bin2Win would get that elimination as his AJ held up against Chad's A9. But after eliminating 3 players in a row, Win suffered some losses and was eventually called all-in by T7 when he had AJ, and T eliminated him from the tournament.

3 handed play got interesting when Texas raised and then was reraised all-in by Ron O. Texas eventually decided to make the call, having about 40% of his cips in the pot with his raise. Texas showed QJ as Ron showed AK and after a lone K came on the flop it appeared that Ron would have a dominating chip lead going into heads up play, but a turned Q and rivered Q kept Texas alive and when Mike F eventually moved in for his final 30K and was eliminated by Texas it set up a short heads up battle. Texas eventually called Ron O's all in with K7, Ron table Ax ... but a turned K gave Texas the lead and the win.

Congrats to all, and look forward to our first 2x NLHE event of the year on August 26th!
