Playoff Discussion

There has been some discussion in the past of 'opening up' our Championship. Obviously this a very two-edged sword. Those who compete to get in, might feel like something is being taken away from them if someone is allowed, simply by putting more money in, to buy-in their way in.

On the other hand, there would be a much bigger prizepool as well to compete for, potentially.

Based on first half standings, 50 pts was about 13th, and 30 points was about 30th. Based on the prizepool, without the $40 entry for the Championship, the seats for the 18 person Championship were worth approximately $150, and since, at our playoff we gave 1 out of 3 people seats to the Championship, they were worth approximately $50.

Here are some proposals:

Allow anyone to pay the $40 + $50 to play the playoff. Again, we advance 1 out of every 3 players.

Allow only those who have played at least one tournament in that session to pay $40 + $50 to play.

Allow anyone to pay $40 + $20 penalty (for not making the top 30) + $xx determined by vaule of $50/number of points for 30th place. In a case where 30th was 25 points, each point would be worth $2. Therefore someone with 10 points would pay $40 + $20 + $30 to play. Someone not playing at all would pay $40+$20+$50. Someone missing the cut by 1 point would pay $40+$20+$2.

And the final option, at least here, would be the same as the last one, except, again, only allowing those who have played at least one tournament in the session to participate.

Thoughts are very welcome!!!!

Congratulations to Jelly!!

Jelly brushed aside 16 other competitors to capture the first place prize at our first 2009 DRP Championship. Bjorn was runner-up with Nick and NosCat rounding out the top 4.

Jelly will probably play a WSOP event this summer, hopefully being able to join 2 other competitors from the second 2009 Championship.
