Event #6

Well, the 1st quarter came to an end and the 2nd quarter started with a 31 entrant, 1.5 pt event. There were quite a few players who could make a run at the top 10, and 4 did, only 2 would make it though.

Cowboy would begin to make his run early on and keep it rolling, at one time winning a pot with KK vs 4 other pocket pairs - 2 of which were QQ. He would keep it going well into the final table.

Be Love (Bert), although not in top 10 contention, would make a huge run too thanks to a fortunate river. Be Love limped for 400 and the blinds called. Flop is 846 and Peanut Butter leads from the BB only to get reraised by Be Love to about 2500. Peanut Butter moves his final 4900 in and Be Love calls with top pair top kicker A8, but Peanut Butter had flopped top/bottom with 48. Turn brought a K and the river brought a 6 to give Be Love a better 2 pair with 8866A vs 8866K. His legs would get chopped out later when his KK ran into Nick G's AA. That hand propelled Nick G up the ladder to make a run at the top 10. He would need to finish 1st to get in though.

Be Love, in the meantime, got a good chunk of chips back through Big Slick. Be Love raised fairly standard preflop and Big Slick called. Big Slick checked a T98 board with 2 diamonds. Be Love bet and Big Slick moved all-in and Be Love called. Be Love showed QQ with the Q of diamonds and Big Slick showed 88 for a flopped set. The turn was a 3rd diamond, now giving Be Love about 13 outs and he got there twice with the J of diamonds on the river.

Ruby Cube came into the tournament needed 5 places within the points and let it all hand out when he got it in after the flop with just AQ against a pair of 2's, but a Q came on the river to save him and he used that to grind his way all the way to a 6th place cash and a cruel outing after his TT lost to K9 on runner runner flush.

Andy N was the final entrant who would make a run, laying low for much of the tournament, and this huge hand set up the heads up match. With about 4 left, Nick G, Andy, Cowboy, and Tallywacker, Cowboy had over 50% of the chips in play and it looked as if nothing would stop him, until Andy moved in with Ducks and Cowboy called with AK. J66 flop, 9 turn, river blank, and Andy doubled up to around 80K, and after Cowboy eliminated Nick in 4th, and Andy eliminated Tally in 3rd, Andy would have around 100K to Cowboy's 130K. As it turned out, the winner and only the winner would get into the top 10. And this is how the final hand played out. Andy checked from the BB as Cowboy completed to 8K. Andy checked the A56 flop and Cowboy bet 15K, Andy called. Turn brings a 3rd club, a 6 of clubs. Again, Andy checks and Cowboy bets 25K, and then Andy moves all-in. With 96K, about 40% of the total, in the pot, Cowboy called with AJ, J of clubs and Andy showed 64. No club, no Ace on the river and Andy won the tournament and moved into 9th, just ahead of Cornhusker, who ended 0.5 pts ahead of Cowboy.

We will try to work out a date for the top 10 that works for KTK, Shipmann, Rob W, Kramer, Peanut Butter, Ruby Cube, Andy N, Cornhusker, Tallywacker, and Texas, and they will compete for a couple tournament seats.

The 2nd quarter, as well, will be an invitational tournament for the top 10 for a couple HPT quality tournament seats.

Next tournament is April 27th, a 2.5 pt event.
