Year is wrapping up!

This Saturday was 2 of the last 4 events of the year as people positioned themselves for the huge tournament in February. Kramer and Blondie absolutely blew the 1st and 2nd positions out of sight, opening up 65.5 and 68 point leads, respectively, on 3rd place.

Kramer was able to overcome Tim F, Blondie, Cory B, Bjorn, Slinger, Bin2win, Trent C, Nick T, & Hunt.

Tomi H took down the Razz nightcap, getting out to a huge lead and cruising into heads up with Kramer. Blondie, General, Bin2win, Big Slick, Cory B, and Ken H rounded out that final table.

Last 2 tournaments will be on Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 16th. Both will be 1.5 pt events. Any good finish will be enough to boost someone several spots up in the standings. Again, the higher you finish in the top 12, the more chips you will start with at the Points Championship.

Discussing next year at this point, we will be having a meeting, comprised of as many of the regular participants throughout the year as possible. Tournament dates, buy-ins, type of game, prizes, will all be discussed once again to plan the rest of the year and provide a good mix of everything to give everybody a chance for the big prize. If you want to have input, but you were not a regular, contact me or anybody you know was a regular, and let them know if you would like to see things changed, stay the same, or some mix. Thanks, everyone!

NL Championship

What a party! Always is at Lefty's, and this one was going pretty good at 2:30 when I left, lol ...

42 people showed up, and after all was said and done, new player Tim F was left holding all the money and the 60 points that came along with it. Those 60 pts put him in serious contention for the top 30, which 30th is currently a tie between Wolf and Fishhooks. Cory B was the other player who made a huge jump in points with his 3rd place finish. With still 5 tournaments remaining over the next month and a half, it will be a wild finish for those remaining spots in the top 30.

The battle for the top 12 has also gotten extremely tight. 12th is currently 128, while 15th is only 7.5 back. The other big points news was Blondie passing Kramer with a 5th place finish. Those 2 are now up by just over 30 ahead of 2nd place finisher Lefty, who moved into 3rd.

The first very significant hand late in the tournament happened like this. With 11 people remaining, Fishhooks made it 6,000 to go at 1,200/2,400. Tim and Hunt call behind. Flop is 345 with 2 diamonds. Hunt leads out for 12,000, Fishhooks folds and Tim calls. Turn is the J of diamonds, and once again Hunt leads but is raised all-in by Tim. After much deliberation, Hunt calls all-in with 6d6x while Tim has him dead with Td9d. This hand gave Tim the chip lead heading to the final table ... a lead he would only relenquish very shortly.

KTK was first to bust - against Fishhooks who called his short all-in with AJ, KTK had A8 and the flop came 8JJ, leaving KTK to runner runner quads - which never came. Ol Lady was then busted by Tim to leave us with 8 reamining - only 7 were getting paid. Ruby Cube moved all-in for around 10K with 1,500/3,000 blinds and got a call from Texas' QJs. K9x on the flop and a T on the turn, bubbled Ruby in 8th. Fishhooks knocked out the next after Ryan L called all-in blind and Texas called all-in with AT. Blondie busted in 5th - and then the biggest hand of the night transpired ...

Tim F and Fishhooks were 1 - 2 in chips and Fishhooks raised standard preflop, getting a call from Tim F. Flop came J high and Tim F bet, Fishhooks raised all-in and Tim F called. Tim had top pair top kicker with AJ, but Hooks had KK. Turn was a blank but the river was an Ace giving Tim 2 pair and a significant chip lead - well over half the chips in play. But it wasn't over by any means as both Cory B and Lefty doubled through Tim to make things nearly even at one point with Tim at 160K, Cory at 160K, and Lefty at 110K. But it was Tim's day as he proceeded to knock Cory B out and then Lefty out.

It was a great time and hopefully people are still interested in the remaining of the year with points and more good times ahead.

Next tournaments are on Saturday, November 17th. NLHE at 11 and Razz at 5:30.
