7-Card Stud Championship

This Saturday we will have the 7-Card Stud Championship Event. This will be following a regular 1 point NLHE event at 11:00.

For those of you who have not played 7-Card Stud, here are some of the basics.

The first round of dealing the cards is such: 2 cards down, 1 card up to each player in order from the dealer clockwise. Before each subsequent deal (4 more) there is a burn card and after the burn card the players receive their next card up on 4th, 5th, and 6th streets and down on 7th street with 1 card being dealt each time.

In the event that there are not enough cards to deal everybody a 7th street, the burn cards will be used to do so. First with all remaining cards and burn cards being shuffled together, a burn card will be used if possible, if not possible but there are enough cards to be dealt, there will be no burn card. If there are not enough cards, even with the burn cards, the last card is a community card for all players. This scenario is only possible obviously at a full table with nearly everyone seeing all the streets - a very unlikely scenario.

Betting proceeds as follows: Everyone antes before the hand is dealt. Ante is typically 1/8 of the big bet on the hand. After the 3 cards are dealt to each player, the low card has to post the 'bring-in' which is typically 1/3 to 1/4 of the small bet on that hand. Every subsequent betting street, the high hand commences betting. 3rd & 4th streets are at small bet levels, 5th, 6th, & 7th streets are at big bet levels. The one exception to this is paired boards on 4th street. Anyone can bet the small or the big bet on that street. High hand is determined by position in all cases where there are ties.

There are obvioulsy many more rules concerning misdeals, burn cards, etc., we'll cross those bridges - hopefully very few of them - on Saturday.

Remember, that this event is worth 2x the points of a regular tournament. Basically the winner of this event, if we gather 24 players, will receive the same number of points as the winner of a 54 player 1x point tournament.

Hope to see everybody try their hand at stud!!!
