2006 DRP Championship

We have moved our Championship Event up 1 month due to conflicts with playing a tournament the weekend before Christmas.

This year's Championship Event is an $80 buy-in. 25 minute blind rounds, $10,000 in starting chips, and blinds that only double every 3rd round after the first break, should make for some great poker play at this event.

We are set to begin at 2:00 p.m. on November 4th, a Saturday. Registration will start around 1:00. BYOB for your own refreshment as this tournament is going to be at a private residence in West Fargo. Some snacks will be provided at the tournament. The tournament is expected to last until around 10:00, of course depending on number of entrants and play style. Last year, our tournament started at 3:00 and was done close to 9:00.

Based on 40 paid entries (there is a freeroll spot and the TD spot), the prize pool will be $3,000 and first place will be $1,000 and paying down 7 spots. Also at stake, seats at the Points Championship freeroll in January. This tournament and a $40 tournament in December are the final 2 left to obtain points for the Points Championship, and with the potentially large number of entrants, even a good showing, much less great, will go a long ways to getting you your seat. Anymore than 35 entrants and the winner of the $80 event could conceivably qualify for the top 10 just with this tournament. However, that is not a given, as even a 12th place finish with 36 entrants is worth 32 points in the standings and would keep anyone with 48 or more points currently in the standings ahead of the winner.

Currently the Points Championship will be the Top 10, as the TD has only cashed $310 of the possible $570 this year that is eligible for the prize pool. With even around $150 in cashes in the next 2 events, the Points Championship could become a top 16 tournament with a prize pool over $1,200. Either way the prize pool looks to be over $1,000 for the Points Championship.

There will be sure to be cash games as the tournament progresses that will lead into the night.

If everybody could please RSVP with me as to how many bodies could possibly be coming, that would be a great help. He have the room and tables for up to 60, we just have to make arrangements for chairs, so please, even if it's a possibility, let me know.

Thanks, everybody, and we'll see you on the 4th!
